If your company boasts an entrepreneurial culture, Fast Company offers these tips to help you find people who will best fit in.

To assess a candidate’s ability to work in an independent environment, ask questions like:

  • Tell me about a project you planned and executed with little or no supervision.
  • What approach did you take and what was the result?
  • What challenges came up, and how did you resolve them?
  • What support did you need to resolve the challenges?

Naturally, you should ask each candidate the same questions, in the same order, and score their answers as systematically as possible.

The questions help root out whether interviewees can set and achieve goals independently. Do they have solid problem solving and critical decision-making skills? Can they formulate solutions and strategically execute on their own? Are they good time managers who stay on task without oversight?
